Our aquaculture farms are usually located in remote coastal areas. Many Marine Harvest production employees in Europe and the Americas therefore live in these areas, where employment opportunities are limited.
We are aware of the significant economic and social role aquaculture has to play in these communities. We take initiatives to develop positive relationships in the communities. These include nature conservation programmes, environmental initiatives, community projects and the sponsorship of local sports and cultural events.
Our local management is encouraged to give attention to the views of local communities and engage in dialogues to find mutually beneficial or acceptable solutions to any concerns that are raised with respect to the activities of Marine Harvest.
