On the 1st and 2nd of July 2008 top chefs from all over Europe met in Stavanger for the very first Bocuse d'Or Europe.
This was the first time Bocuse d’Or Europe took place. 20 chefs were competing to be the best chef in Europe. The top 12 (including the 5 pre-qualified) qualified for the World Championship in Lyon in 2009; the grand Bocuse d’Or. 5 countries; France, Denmark, Switzerland, Norway and Sweden, had already qualified thanks to their performance in the 2007 edition of Bocuse d'Or.
The Bocuse d’Or Europe 2008 featured a prominent jury, headed by honorary jury president Thomas Keller, one of the leading US chefs today. The famous Norwegian chef, Eyvind Hellstrøm, is the President of the Organising Committee.
Marine Harvest played an important role in this prestigious culinary event; both as sponsors and suppliers. Norwegian salmon, supplied exclusively by Marine Harvest, and Norwegian lamb were the raw materials for the competing dishes.
For Marine Harvest it is vital to be a prominent participant on the culinary scene. During the Bocuse d'Or Europe all the the eyes of the culinary world were on Stavanger and Marine Harvest salmon.
