Marine Harvest Cod

In the fjords of Ryfylke in Norway, Marine Harvest produces Cod from eggs to small fish at about 100 g each.

Activities:
The hatchery at Ljøsøybukta in Hordaland has its own broodstock. The hatchery process takes approx 18 days. After hatching, the cod larvae are kept in tanks for approx 55 days. After the nursery period they are transfered to the growing facilities at Mjølstadneset and some are sold to cod farmers.

In Sunnmøre, they are kept 4-5 months and grown to 50+ grams. The juvenile cod (2-5 grams and 50+ grams) are sold to cod farmers throughout Norway.
